6 Different Types of Data in Research Methodology
Research methodology is the organized collection and examination of the data related to education. It is a scientific study that examines the learning and teaching methods for better understanding of the education system. It is an observation and investigation in the field of education. Research is done in search of new knowledge or to use the existing knowledge in a better way. It helps to acquire useful knowledge and solve the challenges faced in education.
Quantitative research deals with numerical values and measurements for finding answers. It is done to check if some assumptions and theories are true or not. Quantitative research is expressed in numbers and graphs.
Qualitative research deals with words. The data is collected by communicating with individuals with questions related to the subject matter being researched. This way the researcher will get an idea of what people think and why they think differently on the same topic. Qualitative research collects data expressed in words.
The data that is in order on a scale is ordinal data. It follows a natural order.
Nominal data is used to label variables without a numerical value. Nominal data cannot be measured.
Discrete data deals with infinite or whole numbers, that is numbers that cannot be divided into parts.
Continuous data can be used to measure any numeric value. It is data that can be calculated.
Data is a systematic record of the information gathered to be used for a particular purpose. It will make the information collected be in an organized form. Each of these data is useful in statistics, research, and data science.
