Educational Sociology

Educational sociology is education from the sociological perspective. It is a branch of sociology that studies the relation between society and education. Educational sociologylooks into the problem of relationship between these two factors. It is the sociological findings in the field of education and consists of more practical implications. Educational sociology is mostly focused on research work. Educational sociology provides recommendations and techniques to improve the quality of education by researching on society’s culture, values and norms.

Educational sociology studies how humans interact with one another and with the society. It is concerned with the study of social issues in education. Its main focus is the use of sociological principles in education.Educational sociology fosters social change in the educational system necessary to fulfil the changing needs of the society.

Educational Sociology and Teacher

Teachers are the main instrument in the existence of school. Teachers have the biggest influence on children. To teach another, teachers must have sufficient knowledge themselves on the subject matter. Teachers need to be confident in what they know in order to transmit knowledge to others. They need to have a proper technique of teaching in a classroom.Teachers should be capable of using their knowledge in school education. A teacher should know the process of socialisation and method of interaction among students.

Educational sociology helps teachers in understanding what factors outside of the classroom are influencing the students inside the classroom, such as their culture, and values. By understanding this, teachers can better relate to the perspectives and experiences of their students. Teachers will be able to create more relevant and effective lessons through this.Teachers will know how to interact effectively with students.
