The CBSE Udaan Scheme is a collaboration between CBSE and the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Indian Government. It aims to increase women’s enrolment in prestigious academic institutions across India.
Aims and Objectives
The main aims and objectives of the scheme are as follows:
To Encourage Women’s Participation
It ensures that every girl child gains access to universal education.
To Safeguard Girl Child
The scheme safeguards the girl child against practices such as female infanticide and foeticide.
To Encourage Community Participation
It encourages community participation to promote the welfare of the girl child.
To Promote Women’s Education
It aims to increase the literacy rate of girls and women across the country.
To Bring Societal Change
It trains government authorities and employees to bring positive societal change.
To Prevent Child Marriage
The scenes prevent child marriage of girls thereby safeguarding them from physical, mental, and domestic harassment.
To Reduce Gender Inequality
It aims to remove gender equality from the Indian society through financial and educational aid to families of the girl child.
Benefits
The main benefits of this scheme are as follows:
Financial Aid
The Rajasthan government will provide financial assistance under this scheme of a total amount of Rs. 1 lakh for the girl’s marriage.
Provision of Subsidy
The beneficiaries will receive the subsidy in their account at the time fixed by the government.
Grants Benefits
The government grants benefits by providing financial assistance to the parents when the first girl child is born.
Allotted Funds
The State Government allocates funds of Rs. 2221 crore to implement this scheme for the benefit of the girl child of the state.
Sustainable Growth
The main aim of this scheme is to create sustainable growth for all the girl children that further helps with improving their standard of living in society.
In India, there are still many societies where a patriarchal system is prevalent. The SRB or sex ratio at birth accounts for an estimated 896: 1000 for females and males respectively. The difference in this ratio is not a normal occurrence mainly due to the societies following patriarchy even in the modern age. In the past few decades, the government has paid more attention to the life of a girl child and various schemes have been developed and implemented to foster the welfare of the girl child. The CBSE Udaan Scheme mainly aims to foster and encourage the promotion of the welfare of the girl child across the country.
