SSC CGL stands for Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Exam. Combined Graduate Level Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit Group B and C officers to various posts in top ministries, departments and organizations of the Government of India. The Staff Selection Commission was established in 1975. To apply for the SSC CGL Exam, the candidate must be a Graduate from a recognized University. The age limit for different posts in the SSC CGL 2023 exam is a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 32 years. Apart from this, there are certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved group of candidates.

SSC CGL Salary for Pay Level 8-

Pay Level 8 of the Pay Matrix that has been implemented by the Government of India for its employees under the 7th CPC.

SSC CGL Salary for Pay Level 7–

It generally represents a mid to upper-level range of pay.

SSC CGL Per Month Salary-

The SSC CGL posts and salary are classified into four categories: Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D. Details about the salary are given below-

• For Group A posts, the starting SSC CGL salary per month can be around Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month. 

• The Group B post can have a starting SSC CGL salary per month of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month. 

• For Group C posts, the salary can begin at Rs. 25,500 and go up to Rs. 81,100 per month. 

• For Group D posts, the salary starts from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month.

 In addition to the basic salary, SSC CGL employees are also eligible for other allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Medical Allowance, and Transport Allowance. These allowances are added to the basic salary, which increases the overall salary.  The allowances vary based on the city of posting. Below listed are the approximate allowances:

❖ Dearness Allowance (DA): 42% of the basic pay

❖ House Rent Allowance (HRA): 24%, 16%, or 8% of the basic pay based on the city of posting (X, Y, or Z category cities, respectively)

❖ Transport Allowance (TA): Rs. 3,600 or Rs. 1,800 based on the pay level

After the 7th Pay Commission, the salaries of SSC CGL employees have significantly increased. SSC CGL Salary has increased due to an increment in the DA from 38% to 42%. In addition to the salary allowances and benefits, SSC CGL employees also get job security, pension benefits, and opportunities for promotion.
