The starting salary is INR 56,100 excluding the allowances (Travel allowance, Dearness allowance, and House Rent allowance). As the position and seniority increases there is an increment in the salary. The salary of an IPS officer can reach a maximum of INR 2,25,000. Apart from this various other allowances and perks like official vehicle, domestic help, driver etc are also provided to the IPS officers.

The monthly Gross Salary of an IPS officer is INR 64,000 but the in hand salary which the officer receives is INR 54,000 (approx.).

IN- Hand Salary of an IPS Officer-

The in-hand salary of an IPS officer depends on the rules as per the 7thpay commission. The deductions in the salary are done as per the commission rules. Certain deductions are made from the gross salary, such as Central government, Health Services contribution, NPS contribution, Insurance Scheme, and Insurance tax. The new IPS Salary pay structure is introduced, and the IPS pay scale is decided on Basic pay along with TA, DA, and HRA. The IPS officer salary scales are divided into 4 types: Junior Scale, Senior Scale (Senior Time Scale, Junior Administrative Grade, Selection Grade), Super Time Scale (Deputy Inspector General of Police, Inspector-General of Police) and Above Super Time Scale(Additional Director General of Police, HAG+, Apex Scale).

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), trains officers of the Indian Police Service, The training period for officers in SVPNPA, Hyderabad is of 11 months. The institute trains Indian Police Service officers before they are sent to their respectivestate cadres for duties. The academy is in Shivrampalli, Hyderabad (Telangana) India. 

The training duration of an IPS Officer is quite lengthy. During the training period, the IPS officer salary ranges up to INR 33k -35k (approx.). After successful completion of the training period IPS officer gets INR 56,100 per month, which includes basic pay and other allowances.
