The five Philosophies of Education are:
- i). Progressivism- This philosophy deals with the interests, needs and experiences of students. It emphasises on real life problem solving and the development of individuals.
- ii). Reconstructionism- This philosophy deals with addressing social issues such as inequality and bringing changes for the improvement of society.
- iii). Essentialism- This philosophy states that there are certain skills and knowledge that needs to be possessed by every individual such as reading and writing.
- iv). Perennialism- This philosophy suggests that nature is constant and topics that have been relevant and meaningful over time. It focuses on transmitting information and knowledge from one generation to another.
