Process of Admission

Students will have to appear for an entrance test that is conducted by IGNOU all over India. Based on the score obtained in this entrance test, students will get to be a part of the admission procedure involved. An application form would be made available which the candidate has to fill in. Then, the candidate will be required to submit the filled-in application form. The Entrance cum Admission Form would mention the documents that would be needed for the admission form to be accepted. Candidates will be required to submit self-attested copies of the required documents as specified in the form. The original documents are to be submitted as well, but later for the sake of verification. However, this will be needed after the candidate receives an offer letter for admission.

IGNOU Entrance Test

Interested students are required to keep an eye out for the dates that will be published for the entrance test. Hall tickets for the entrance test will be uploaded on the official website of IGNOU ( www.ignou.ac.in ) for appearing in the entrance test. Admission will be based on the rank of the students in the merit list for the entrance test. Not only this, on publication of their names on the merit list, the students would be required to submit proof of their eligibility within the last date to submission of applications for admission. This should also be accompanied by original certificates and programme fees. As far as the entrance test is concerned, the university holds the right to conduct the examination at different centres. IGNOU also has the right to change the examination centre of the candidates without assigning any reason. A point that is to be noted is- the number of seats of each PSC is limited to 50 only.

DURATION

The minimum duration of this program is 2 years and the maximum duration is 5 years.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

There are two mediums or languages available to be accepted as the mode of instruction in IGNOU – English and Hindi only.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates should have at least fifty per cent marks either in the Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in – Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity and for Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics, students with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for the admission provided they have met the other criteria. Besides, in-service teachers who are trained in elementary education are also granted to be eligible for admission. Apart from the above-mentioned factors, candidates who have completed an NCTE recognised teacher education programme through face-to-face mode are also eligible. SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD candidates will be provided with a reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility, as per the rules of the Government of India. As per the rules of the University, reservation would be available v for Kashmiri migrants and war widow candidates.

PROGRAMME FEE

The total fee required for this program is 55,000 INR. Candidates who are seeking admission to the B. Ed programme are advised to not pay the fee along with the application form that is filled up. They will be separately communicated about the status of their admission as well as payment of fees. The programme fee should be paid through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IGNOU. This is payable at the city where your regional centre is situated. In case of such formalities, please write your name and the programme to which you want to get admitted to, ( in this case- B. Ed) in capital letters on the back of the Demand Draft in order to ensure proper credit of your fee to the relevant account.

The programme is structured in a way such that there is a judicious mix of theory and practical courses. This helps the student-teachers to acquire necessary skills and competencies that would prepare them for practical teaching experiences and enhance them with the amount of learning needed to teach at secondary or senior secondary levels.

No leaves shall be entertained during this internship and one has to complete this component of the curriculum in upper primary, secondary or senior secondary schools.
