Explain the Importance of a “Well-rounded Education”?

A well-rounded education is important to a child's development because it enables him or her to learn from a variety of sources. For example, a child who learns how to read by reading stories, or who learns how to write by practicing letters and numbers, is receiving a well-rounded education. A well-rounded education also includes learning about different cultures, including the culture of the family, school, and community. It also includes learning about history and geography, as well as math, science, language arts, social studies, and physical education. The goal of a well-rounded education is to provide a child with the knowledge necessary to make intelligent choices throughout his or her life.
