  • The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) was issued in 2005 by the National Council of Educational Research and Training. The process for introducing NCF started in November 2004. Its chairperson was Professor Yash Pal. It was the fourth National Curriculum Framework after previously being published in 1975, 1988, and 2000. The framework provided instructions and suggestions on textbooks, syllabus and teaching techniques to be followed.
 
  • The NCF 2005 consists of 35 members. 21 National Focus Groups have been set up for strengthening curricular areas and national concerns. All academic institutes in India have the subjects by NCF 2005. The NCF 2005 comprises five chapters. The syllabus is being used in 17 states and has been translated into 22 languages.
 
  • The National Curriculum Framework 2005 has been of great importance in the field of education in India. The framework has brought modern changes in the Indian education system. It is helpful in building unity and spreading equality among the citizens of the nation. The guidelines provided by it have made the education system effective in India.
