Film review is a popular phenomenon which refers to the method of assessing a film’s all round quality by critics which is done to determine whether the film is worth the watch or not. It involves the process of analysing the film and expressing the opinion either collectively or individually. 

Purpose of a Film Review 

Plot:

Film reviews are used to give an overall description of the film to viewers.

Character Analysis:

Film Reviews also make the viewers aware about the character description, growth, and depth in a film. 

Recommendation:

One of the main purposes of a film review is to enable the audience to determine whether they should watch the movie or not. 

Production:

Film reviews also offer the entire details of the film such as the Director, the cinematography, producer, actors, and the like. 

Quality:

Lastly, a film review is used to make the audience aware of the overall quality of the film. 

Structure of a Film Review

A structure of a film review must consist of the following: 

Introduction:

This part should include the film title, background information, release date, and the like as well as the summary of the film.

Plot:

Next, all the elements of the plot must be analysed and included ranging from the rising action to the climax.

Creative Elements:

Creative elements such as cinematography techniques, costumes, musical score, dialogues, use of colours, mood, tone, symbols, characters, and the like must be included.

A film review helps the audience to determine whether they should watch the movie or not.
